NEW ORLEANS, LA - Laura McBratney Hentschel, a resident of the Poydras Home of New Orleans, died on Tuesday, November 1, 2005 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where she was relocated because of Hurricane Katrina. Born in Salina, Kansas, December 7, 1904 to Cora and William McBratney. She had previously lived in Shreveport for 43 years. Wife of the late and beloved Floyd Lionel Hentschel, Sr.; mother of Floyd Lionel Hentschel, Jr. of Oklahoma City, David Allen Hentschel of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Patricia Hentschel Rosamond of New Orleans, Louisiana; grandmother of Scott Hentschel, Stuart Hentschel and Steven Hentschel, all of Austin, Texas, Michael Hentschel, Daniel Hentschel and Carol Ann Smith, all of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Laura L. Malone and John Malone IV of New Orleans, Louisiana. She is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren and 7 step-great-grandchildren; mother-in-law to Clydella Hentschel, Sam Rosamond, Jr. and Gilda Hentschel. She was preceded in death by her 6 brothers and 2 sisters, all of Kansas City, Kansas.

She was a member of the woman's Department Club and the Broadmoor Baptist Church of Shreveport, Louisiana and the New Orleans Garden Society.

Pallbearers are Scott Hentschel, Steve Hentschel, Stuart Hentschel, John Malone, Dave Hentschel, Floyd Hentschel and Sam Rosamond.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 7, 2005 at Forest Park Cemetery in Shreveport, Louisiana. Visitation will be from 9:45-10:30 at Osborn Funeral Home on Southern Avenue. Osborn Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. A Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on November 17, 2005 at the Poydras Home in New Orleans, Louisiana.
